Joey Toney

Joseph became involved in the sport of Track and Field in high school, where he became a section champion and would compete at the Youth National Championship. He continued his career in college where he would compete as a decathlete and in 400M hurdles, becoming a two time D1 Academic All-American. He would go on to have a brief professional career before suffering a torn hamstring that unfortunately ended his as a competitive athlete.

Working with Coach Chris Hinshaw helped restore Joseph’s physical health and over the last several years he began competing for USA Track and Field in the Master’s division, winning a regional title and medaling at the National Championships. He currently coaches Track and Field at the Junior Olympic level, with his relay teams being undefeated in the last two years. Joseph is also a coach for NC Endurance, the running program lead by Chris Hinshaw, through NorCal CrossFit (NC Fit). He has Crossfit Level 1 certification and enjoys coaching occasional CrossFit classes at NorCal CrossFit (NC Fit) in Mountain View and Redwood City. In his 1st year involved in CrossFit he was a member of a qualifying team for Regionals.
